Marrakech is an art destination: 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair 2026.
From February 5th to 8th, 2026, the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair returns to Marrakech for its seventh African edition. Named after the 54 countries that make up the African continent, 1-54 is the leading international art fair dedicated to contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora. Hosted at the legendary La Mamounia hotel, the fair brings a surge of energy, color, and international collectors back to the historic heart of Marrakech.
What to Expect in 2026
The main venues are the iconic gardens and halls of La Mamounia which provide a backdrop of timeless luxury. The first two days are dedicated to VIP & Press, but over the weekend (February 7 – 8), the fair opens its doors to the wider public. This year features a strong roster of Moroccan talent alongside international stars like Samuel Nnorom and Aïcha Snoussi.m Standard public tickets are available for 150 MAD here.
Throughout the entire week, several key events are open to everyone across Marrakech:
- In Between Blues (DaDa Marrakech): An immersive project in the heart of the Medina (running all through February).
- Sidi Ghanem Openings: The industrial district will be hosting gallery nights and live painting events, including eL Seed at Jajjah Tea on Saturday, Feb 7.
- Museum Highs: Special exhibitions are running concurrently at the MACAAL, the Musée Yves Saint Laurent, and Dar El Bacha.
